# Example: father's rank by laureate birth decade

A worked example of asking a NEW question with the replication data — one the
paper does not report. It measures how the average socioeconomic rank of
laureates' fathers changes across the laureates' birth decades.

```sh
conda activate nobel-prizes            # see ../../environment.yml
python father_rank_by_decade.py
```

Reads `../../../data/nobelists_analysis.csv`, groups by birth decade (`cohort`),
averages three father-rank measures (`med_inctot_rank`, `global_med_inctot_rank`,
`educ_rank`), prints a table, and writes `output/father_rank_by_decade.json`.

Use this folder as a template: copy it, point it at the columns you care about
(see `../../../data/README.md`), and keep the read-`data/` / write-`output/`
contract.
